Rose Creek Gifts & More,LLC is a small unique country shop. We are in a historic area of Independence, IA. In 1866 horse racing was very popular. C.W. Williams owned two stallions, Allerton and Axtel. The stallion Axtel was sold and the money was used to purchase 120 acres on which the famous kite shaped race track was built. For this reason I decided on a building called the bunkhouse. Next was to find a special name for the building and my business. So I decided to name it after my grandmothers.

Grandma Rose was a hard working woman with lots of work ethics. She came to this country when she was 12 years old from France. Her father was a coal miner and they lived in a coal mining camp. Each family had responsibilities and it was hard work. But she still had great memories. So many skills that she passed on to all.

My Grandma Ruth was a very tall woman with the largest hands that showed much hard work. She had 7 children and was alway busy. She had very little just like my other Grandma when growing up. She loved nature and would take us for walks along the creek at the timber. She taught us about all kinds of trees, wild flowers and so much more. The sound of the water in the creek was so beautiful and very soothing.

Because of these two women I learned the value of life and memories.
